I’ve been with MailerLite for many years and over time I felt the mailing service lacked a bunch of features I wanted. For this reason, I have now migrated to Beehiiv, a publishing platform with a funny name, but serious features 👍
Most authors run a mail list, it’s a quick and practical way to communicate with your readers. A “newsletter” is essentially the same thing, you distribute information, it’s just packaged differently. But there are also additional benefits such as simultaneous posting to website and functions that make it easy to give your subscribers perks such as gifting a free book, like my Oh My Boss giveaway.
What platform? I’ve used many email platforms including ConvertKit, Brevo, MailerLite, Aweber, etc. You can use Beehiiv for only mails or web or a combo of both which is the default. They have a free tier which has a generous 2500 subscriber tier, although I highly recommend a paid tier as it opens up many useful features such as selling your own digital products. Some features that I appreciate:

Email automation flow builder
Growth tools & internal cross promotion
Monetization ads and referrals
Easy product creation and sales portal
Internal ad, recommendations and boost network provides direct revenue from the posts we make. You can see examples of paying recommendations at the end of this post.
Also, there actually is support, something that can’t be said for any of the other platforms as it either takes a loong time, or you get worthless replies, or there simply is no support. Another support benefit is a huge library of how-to videos on Youtube.

Switching was easy. A simple export and import of a csv file, and with some simple on-site editing of a post template from the Beehiiv library, I was up an running in less than 30 minutes. Done!

Some of my subscribers may react to this transition, but rest assured that I respect your privacy. You will NOT be getting double mails as I have now closed the MailerLite service. From now on, you will only be getting my news from here.
Rebrand? My subscribers are used to seeing emails from “Ashleigh Lyons Books”. I will probably be renaming to “The Lyons Share”, so expect that to be the header in the future.
